Teleconference is the live exchange and mass articulation of information among persons and machines remote from one another but linked by a telecommunications system, usually over the phone line. It differs from videophone in intending to serve groups rather than individuals.

The telecommunications system may support the teleconference by providing one or more of the following audio, video, and/or data services by one or more means, such as telephone, telegraph, teletype, radio, and television.

Teleconferences are also referred to as teleseminars.

Alternative terms for teleconferencing include audio conferencing, telephone conferencing and phone conferencing.

ShoreGroup Earns Cisco TelePresence Commercial Partner Status

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 9, 2009 -- ShoreGroup, Inc., a premier converged network and systems management solutions and IT professional services firm, today announced it has earned the designation of Cisco® Systems TelePresence Commercial Partner. This emerging technologies program focuses on delivering innovative solutions that target the client's key business drivers to adopt collaboration, including business growth, cost reduction, higher employee productivity, employee engagement, and creating competitive market advantage.

The Cisco TelePresence meeting solution is a revolutionary category of products that create live, "face-to-face" meeting experiences over an Internet Protocol (IP) network. It combines the reach, intelligence and reliability of the network with the simplicity of a telephone interface to deliver an entirely new way for people to meet and collaborate.

"ShoreGroup is proud to be a Cisco TelePresence Commercial Partner. It enables us to provide our clients with the technical knowledge to leverage the network as a platform for real-time, next-generation collaboration through the Cisco TelePresence solution," said Robert Ditta, ShoreGroup's Executive Vice President. "While there will always be a need for in-person meetings across all industries, as organizations continue to grow geographically, Cisco TelePresence technology allows companies to provide their employees with a workable, flexible and cost-effective alternative to getting on a plane and being away from their families for extended periods of time."

The Cisco TelePresence solution delivers a unique, "in-person" experience with remote participants allowing for increased efficiency and a sense of being in the same room together regardless of the physical distance between participants. Cisco TelePresence interactions provide the ability to see and hear others in life-size ultra high-definition video (1080p) and wideband spatial audio giving participants the ability to see and respond to communications delivered through body language, eye contact and facial gestures.

"When working with clients on implementing TelePresence technology, we are bringing to realization a reduction in travel needs and enhanced collaboration and productivity within critical business units across the globe while also being environmentally responsible," added Ditta. "Cisco TelePresence opens the doors to collaboration between employees, partners, suppliers and customers, further improving customer service and overall competitiveness."

In addition to the Cisco TelePresence Specialization, ShoreGroup also holds Advanced Specializations in Unified Communications, Routing & Switching, Data Center Networking Infrastructure, Security, Wireless LAN as well as an ATP (Authorized Technology Provider) in Unified Contact Center Enterprise and Customer Voice Portal (CVP).
